It's like mental crack. An internet highway that doubles as a black hole of awesomeness. Creative fuel for those of us who forgot how to do stuff, not to mention new ideas and ways of doing stuff you've probably never even thought about.
I. LOVE. IT. Like lovelovelovelovelove it.

Hoarding toilet paper tubes? Ah, there's a Pin for that.
Tired of tossing your produce scraps? There's a Pin or blog post for that, too.

Needing to know how to hoard food for the upcoming zombie apocalypse? Gotcha covered.
Feeling crafty, but out of ideas? You have just stepped into Heaven.
So Allison over at Needles and Pins and I decided to start blogging about things we Pin and do.
THIS is what I've been working on lately.

I have one niece already. She just turned 1 and already has me and the rest of the world wrapped around her dainty little phalanges and we're (im)patiently awaiting niece #2 who is already 2 days late to the party. So these I found absolutely PERFECT for little baby girls and to reawaken my dormant crochet skills.
So far this is what I have done. Voila.
See. Lots and lots of NOTHING.
But it's not for lack of trying, I'm telling you.
While my brain and eyes speak English very well, as well as a little street lingo and Pig Latin, my fingers don't speak "Increase" and have just recently learned "Magic Ring." So I get to about round 3 and regular crochet patterns turn to gobblety gook. They make sense in my mind, but hands? My hands are dumb.
Cannot...get...pattern...to...happen...in...hands..... **strains and faints out of cranial constipation**
I have started the smallest bowl probably 3,425 times and cried out in frustration, and consistently wound up pulling it out, leaving a nice pile of curly yarn that looks like rainbow ramen. Or if 90's Justin Timberlake decided to dye his hair with grape kool-aid and then get a buzzcut.
But my hooks and I.... we will prevail. PREVAIL, I tell you! I am determined! Niecey-Poo WILL have rainbow stacking bowls, by golly. Even if she doesn't get them 'til she graduates high school! Plus, they'd probably look cute in her college dorm room holding keys, spare change, and lip balm.
Are y'all making anything? If so, let me know! I'd love to check it out!!!!!

I am not talented enough to make anything but those look awesome!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I think they're so stinking cute!!! Oh I bet you could do them. You're awesome. I have much faith in your awesomeness. :)
DeleteYou crack me up!! And are so sweet. Thanks for linking! Sorry you are having so much trouble, I remember struggling just like that when I was learning, one day it just clicked though. I think the best thing I learned when crocheting was to use a stitch marker, it helped me see what I was doing better. You might already do that, and it might not help you at all, but just thought I throw it out there!! Hope you figure it out soon!! :):):):)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kimberly!! I'm not giving up. I will make these bowls, by george. So far, I'm using a bobby pin as a stitch marker since I don't have any actual ones at the moment. I just have to channel Albert Einstein to figure out the mathematical configurations of where to add the increases and then I can take over the world. Or at least this pattern.
